Rullplaaster is a plaster-filled fabric sheet used for wound protection and support. It is also known as plaster bandage or foraminoplasty material. The plaster-filled fabric sheet is made of heavy cotton gauze sandwiched between layers of plaster. The plaster layers are saturated with a paste of magnesium carbonate, calcium and zinc oxide. The plaster dries hard when exposed to the air. The plaster layer absorbs the liquid from the wound, keeping the wound dry and providing a protective seal over the wound. The Gauze layer is highly breathable and provides a cushioning effect on the wound. The fabric layer also limits movement of the skin around the wound, encouraging healing.
