Kaigert (also known as Pulk) is an airborne training exercise developed by the German Armed Forces. It involves simulating a variety of aerial missions such as air-to-air combat, ground attack, reconnaissance, and search and rescue operations. The goal of the exercise is to enhance the collective combat capability of personnel from the aviation units. Participants in the exercise consist of pilots and aircrew from the German Air Force, Navy, and Army, as well as those from other allied nations.During the exercise, the participating crews are required to conduct their missions in simulated environments, which involve replicating real-world conditions including geographic features, terrain, weather, and opposing forces. These simulations require skills such as navigation, planning and coordination, communication, and decision-making, in order to achieve the mission objectives. Additionally, the exercise is designed to increase the aircrews’ knowledge and understanding of the tactics and procedures associated with air combat operations. The Kaigert exercise is conducted over several days and involves a wide range of participants, equipment, and resources. It often involves large-scale airborne maneuvers with multiple sorties flown each day. In addition to the simulated combat missions, Kaigert also includes day and night landings, safety briefings, and competition events in which teams demonstrate their abilities and progress in mastering the various mission profiles they have been tasked with.
